Biography[edit | edit source]
In the year 2267, Zahra accompanied Captain Kirk and his landing party to the surface of the planet Deneva to investigate the unusual communications blackout from the colony. The party discovered that the blackout was due to blastoneuron neural parasites infecting the colony.
In the aftermath of the crisis on Deneva, Zahra and Kirk were conversing on the bridge when Spock returned to duty. Zahra gave a cry of surprise upon seeing the sighted Spock, as she was among the crewmembers to know that Spock had been blinded by the process of divesting himself of the neural parasites. (TOS episode & novelization: Operation -- Annihilate!; TOS novel: Provenance of Shadows)

Background[edit | edit source]
In the novelization of "Operation -- Annihilate!" written by James Blish, Zahra's name is given as Zahara. Zahra was played by actress Maurishka. Her rank was not alluded to in any English source, but the German language dubbed episode in the Raumschiff Enterprise series referred to her as "corporal", clarifying her status as an enlisted NCO.
