Zain was a Bajoran woman who was a Vedek in the 24th century.
In 2377, Vedek Zain accepted an invitation from Yorka and Chellac to view the "Orb of Life", a supposedly newly discovered orb of the Prophets that was actually a Genesis Device. When shown the transformative effects on a planet, Vedek Zain told Yorka the Bajoran religious establishment should receive the orb. (TNG - The Genesis Wave novel: Book 3)
