Zalda (also known as Zald and Dolium V) was a planet located in the space of the galaxy's Beta Quadrant, the fifth planet in orbit of the Dolium star system. (ST reference: Star Charts)
Zald is the homeworld of the Zaldan civilization, and by the 24th century, is a Federation member world. Zalda is located near the Klingon and Romulan borders, and as a result suffered frequent ship crashes from both sides. Its proximity to the warring empires led to it being fast-tracked into Federation membership in the late 23rd Century. Zaldans place low value on what other species refer to as tact.
