Zebra

A zebra.

A zebra was a type of animal native to Earth, an herbivorous mammal.

"Zebra" was also used as phonetic spelling for the English letter Z. It was reflected in designations such as Alpha Zebra Outpost, Lab Delta Zebra, Watch Station Zebra and Zebra sector.

History and specifics[]

In 1986, the San Diego Zoo used zebras in their marketing material. (TOS movie: The Voyage Home)

In the 2260s, an epidemic on Earth was fatal to zebras and several other wildlife species. In 2267, the USS Enterprise was assigned to retrieve some zebras from other planets in order to repopulate them on Earth. The crew also brought back members of bear, camel, chimpanzee, hippopotamus, kangaroo, leopard, parrot, platypus, rhinoceros, tiger, and turtle species. (TOS comic: "A Book to Color, third story")
