Zett Nilric was a Nalori male resident of Vanguard. Nilric was an assassin whose official title was "Business Manager" for the Orion merchant-prince named Ganz.

Zett had an irrational hatred for human trader Cervantes Quinn. Zett fulfilled a contract with Klingon Imperial Intelligence to assassinate the undercover Klingon spy Lurqal after it became apparent that she had been compromised. (VAN novels: Harbinger, Summon the Thunder, Reap the Whirlwind)

He furthermore accepted contracts by the Klingons to sell them and later have another of Ganz's business associates recover from Vanguard a mysterious artifact. While covertly observing the transaction between Ganz's other associate and the Klingons he noticed another ship observing as well. After the transaction the other ship followed the Klingons to their next destination, so he did as well. Zett quickly became aware of Quinn's presence on that world as well and when it was attacked by the Shedai Wanderer to repossess the artifact (which turned out to have another Shedai trapped inside) he was killed by Quinn amidst the ongoing destruction. (VAN novel: Precipice)
