Marien Zimbata

Marien Zimbata was a male Starfleet officer in the 24th century.

Zimbata attended Starfleet Academy in the late 2320s/early 2330s, at the same time as Edward Jellico also attended. They both played in the Academy rugby team together, and Jellico later remarked that Zimbata was awful at the game. (ST video game: Starship Creator)

By 2363, Zimbata had reached the rank of captain, and was assigned as commanding officer of the Constellation-class USS Victory In that year, during an inspection at Starbase 324, he met Jean-Luc Picard. Though he initially considered Picard a "Scrooge", he altered his opinion when Picard offered to help one of Zimbata's officers, Ensign Geordi La Forge, advance his career by recommending him for a post aboard the USS Hood. He returned Picard's favor several years later by giving Tasha Yar to him as Chief of Security when he took command of the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG novel: The Buried Age)

In 2365, Lieutenant Geordi La Forge, then chief engineer of the Enterprise, presented Zimbata with a model of his command's namesake, the ancient Earth sailing vessel HMS Victory. (TNG episode: "Elementary, Dear Data")

As of 2380, Zimbata was commanding officer of Starbase 103. That year, he recommended Jasminder Choudhury for the position of chief of security aboard the USS Enterprise-E. (TNG novel: Greater Than the Sum)

Admiral Zimbata was one of the flag officers to attend, via holocom, a briefing by Captain Jean-Luc Picard regarding the absorption of the Borg Collective into the Caeliar gestalt. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)
