Zinfandel was a type of red wine originating from the California region of the United States on Earth.

History and specifics[]

In 1519 aboard the city-ship Axion, stranded 22nd century Earth Starfleet starship Columbia personnel Captain Erika Hernandez, First Officer Veronica Fletcher, and CMO Johanna Metzger discussed what they missed most from their lives on Earth that day. For Hernandez, it was wine. She cited zinfandel along with burgundy, cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay, chianti, malbec, merlot, pinotage, riesling, rioja, and sauvignon blanc. (ST - Destiny novel: Mere Mortals)

After pulling a poorly-received practical joke on Domenica Corsi, Fabian Stevens fancifully worried that she might remove and eat his brain, accompanied by a zinfandel. (CoE eBook: Remembrance of Things Past, Book I)

In 2384, Geordi La Forge enjoyed a glass of zinfandel while discussing Data's family history with Doctor Tamala Harstad. (TNG - Cold Equations novel: The Persistence of Memory)
