Zora Neale Hurston (7 January 189128 January 1960) was a 20th century Human woman of African-American heritage. An author, she was known for writing Their Eyes Were Watching God.

When another author, Benny Russell, was told that that the world wasn't ready for a Negro to be known as a writer for Incredible Tales, he mentioned examples of such writers as Hurston, Langston Hughes and Richard Wright. (DS9 episode & novelization: Far Beyond the Stars)
